Attending a weddin ceremony in Guinea - een huwelijkin Guinee

Yesterday we had the  opportunity to attend a wedding here in Guinea after drumming class. We drove back to Conakry  whichnis about 45 km...it took us about 2,5 h with all the trafic jams....Luckily for us we have our own security team and we can pass checkpoints quite quickly. 
There were thousands of people attending the wedding...Weddings are different to what we know in Europe. The ceremony usually lasts up to one week...music and dance is a very important part of this ceremony and musicians and dancers from all over come to join in with the the celebration.

Gisteren kregen we de kans om een Guinees huwelijk mee te maken.  Na de les was het terug richting Conakry een rit van 45 km  die toch wel 2,5 uin beslag nam. Aangekomen op het huwelijk was er een massa volk. Een dansende kleurige massa.... gans de wijk was aanwezig een groot buurtfeest. Een huwelijk in Guinee duurt hier gemiddeld een week. Iedereen danst en feest mee. Ook uit de naburige wijken komen er dansers en muzikanten om deel te nemen aan het feest. Dank je wel Babara Bangoura Fakoly voor deze unieke kans ....
